Seven years ago, I embarked on a pivotal journey with Pivotal, a digital marketing agency in Norwich, starting as a PA and climbing my way up to Director of Operations. This role has me at the heart of optimising policies, streamlining processes, and fostering growth, all whilst working to ensure our team is best servicing our clients. Parallel to this professional journey, my personal life flourished as I became a mother to Elsie, joining my husband Perry and our dog Myla to complete our family.
My days begin before sunrise, switching between nappy changes and strategic business catchups, illustrating the quintessential juggling act of a working mum. The balance of board meetings and playtime, strategic planning, and meal preps defines my daily routine. Yet, amidst the chaos and caffeine, the challenge of time stands as my constant adversary, pushing me to master the art of prioritisation and efficiency.
The skills honed in the marketing arena—multitasking, organisation, and leadership—have become invaluable in motherhood, just as the patience, empathy, and time management required at home enhance my professional capabilities. This synergy between my two worlds fosters a unique perspective, enabling me to navigate both effectively.
For those treading this path, my advice is simple yet profound: be kind to yourself. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. The quest for balance is ongoing. Remember, perfection is an illusion, and prioritising what matters most is key.
Reflecting on my journey with Pivotal and as a mother, the parallels in growth, challenges, and triumphs are evident. Both roles have demanded my all, teaching me the true essence of care, love, and dedication. Witnessing the growth of Pivotal alongside Elsie’s milestones has been an honour, each moment a testament to the power of commitment and love.
In closing, the balancing act of marketing and motherhood is not just about managing time or tasks; it’s about nurturing growth, whether within a business or a child. It’s a testament to the power of love, perseverance, and an obsessive need to check off a to do list!
